The Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition presents world renowned speaker Catherine Watson Genna!  This event will offer both lecture and hands on opportunities. Register now!

Speaker: Catherine Watson Genna BS, IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in private practice in New York City. Certified in 1992, Catherine is particularly interested in helping moms and babies breastfeed when they have medical challenges. She speaks to healthcare professionals around the world on assisting breastfeeding babies with anatomical, genetic or neurological problems. Her presentations and her writing feature her clinical photographs, which have also been published widely. Catherine's research collaboration with Columbia University and Tel Aviv University's departments of biomedical engineering are studying various aspects of infant sucking, swallowing and nipple biomechanics. She is the author of Selecting and Using Breastfeeding Tools: Improving Care and Outcomes (Praeclarus Press 2009) and Supporting Sucking Skills in Breastfeeding Infants 3rd edition (Jones and Bartlett Publishers 2017) as well as professional journal articles. Catherine is still a La Leche League Leader, supporting new Leaders in Queens. Catherine was the founding Associate Editor for the United States Lactation Consultant Association journal Clinical Lactation's first 7 years. Her own two offspring (who were of course breastfed!) are a seminarian and a registered nurse.

IBCLCs: $100 

All others: $60 

Registration fees: Fee includes breakfast and lunch as well as continuing education credits.

Target Audience: Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Lactation Consultants & Educators, LLL Leaders, Breastfeeding USA Counselors, Health Educators, Developmental Specialists, Case Managers, Home Visitors, Midwives, Doulas, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors,  Students, and others interested in supporting families in the initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding. 

Earn L-CERPs and/or CEUs. You must stay for the entire presentation, sign in and complete a final evaluation to receive CERPs/CEUs. Additional CERPs will be awarded to the IBCLC's attending the advanced practice workshop at the end of the day. This year we will be applying for education credits for both RD (CPEs)  and educators (CEUs). 

Registration will begin at 7:30, continental breakfast items and beverages will be provided. The event begins promptly at 8 am. A  lunch buffet will be served on-site. Accommodations available for pumping moms and young infants in arms.

Parking:

Option 1: The parking garage is located at 50 E Plaza St. Coming from I-80 East or West, get off at Virginia St. (Exit 13). Turn south on Virginia St. and make a left hand turn onto E. Plaza St. The entrance will be on your right. Once you pull in let the attendant know that you are with the Breastfeeding Coalition and they will allow you in and wave the parking fee. This is FREE to all attending. 

Option 2: Valet Parking (you pay all fees and tips) Coming from I-80 East or West (exit 13), get off at Virginia St. (exit 13) and turn on Sierra St. head south then turn left onto Commercial Row.
