Liquid Gold 5k

Come celebrate the 8th Annual Liquid Gold 5k and bring awareness to breastfeeding as we kick off World Breastfeeding Week! 

The beautiful morning starts off at the University of Nevada, Knowledge Center. Our well marked course winds through the University campus and after the race please stay for our great family event. There will be a children's fair, kid/family friendly vendors, post race snacks and drinks, and a great raffle! And don't forget The Big Latch On which will take place after the race too! We will have fun Latch On swag bags too. 

Liquid Gold 5k is sponsored by the Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition, which is a subcommittee of the Maternal and Child Health Coalition.

T shirts: All running participants registered by July 15 will receive a free T shirt. All other participants have the option to purchase a T shirt for $12. Top prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and 1st stroller.

    Schedule:
      5k Race Registration- 7am-7:30 am
      Race warm up 7:45 am
      5k Walk/Run Start Time- 8am
      Momma Mile Start Time- 8:30am
      The Big Latch On Registration Begins- 9am
      Kids Race Start Time (Youngest kids first)- 9:30am
      The Big Latch On- 10:00am
      Kids Fair- 8am to 12pm with free music class and activities 


Parking Information: Parking is free in the Brian J. Whalen Parking Garage across from the Knowledge Center.

Waivers: Everyone must come to the registration tables to sign a waiver, including a parent or guardian of all participants in the kids race.

Course info: 

    • The 5k walk/run meandors through nearly the full length of the beautiful UNR course.
    • The Mommy Mile/Family loop is a shorter distance option at 1.2 miles. 
    • The kids dash will be an age appropriate distance around the quad in front of the Knowledge Center. Toddlers can expect to tot between parents on the grass, through the oldest participants making a full loop of the quad.

Get Involved!

If you would like to get involved, join our bi-monthly Planning Committee Meetings on the 1st Thursday of every month at Plumas Bank from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm and the 4th Thursday of every month at The Nurturing Nest from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome!
